Titan to host Ride to a Cure event at Water Works Park
Hayrack ride, activities to benefit John Stoddard Cancer Center
DES MOINES, IOWA — In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Titan International (“Titan”) will host the 2nd annual “Ride to a Cure” event on Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Water Works Park in Des Moines. An antique 1954 Farmall tractor, equipped with pink tires, will pull guests on a hayrack ride through the park. The event will feature family-friendly activities such as face painting, inflatables, spin art and harvest-themed goods for sale.
The free event is open to the public, with free-will donations accepted and 100 percent of proceeds going to John Stoddard Cancer Center — a premier cancer center that provides compassionate and quality comprehensive care to cancer patients and their families in the central Iowa area.
“We have about 500 people in our Des Moines plant, and many of them have been impacted by cancer in one way or another,” says Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan and Goodyear Farm Tires. “Building these pink tractor tires and hosting this event allows us to support a cause that is near and dear to a lot of our staff. It takes the hard work of dozens of people to make a single set of pink tires, but it’s something the entire plant — and the company — can be proud of.”
